★ Billy의 국내여행 Domestic Tour

ATA(미국 태권도협회) Korea Training & Culture Tour, April 14 - 22, 2012

Billy Soh

What we had eight days together with ATA members in Korea were really impressive.  The full filled Tae Kwon Do spirit of American Tae Kwon Do Association members moved me deeply. I have tried to introduce my country Korea in terms of many aspects i.e. history, politics, culture, society, Korean War, custom, education etc. But I don't  know how much they understood and felt on Korea. I just wish they could have some opportunity to understand our country including devided situation and even historical suffering of Korean people.  Wishing all members safely come back to their family.

Olympic Park, during ATA training.

Machine gun of North Korean Army.

Anonymous soldier's steel helmet who died in the 6.25 Korean War.

According to Armistice which was agreed between representative of United Nations Army and North Korean & Red Chinese in July 17, 1953, both side should not be armed in the Demilitarzed Zone. That is so called DMZ which is 2km from Military Devided Line to south and north direction respectively. Therefore within total 4km wideth both South and North Korean Army should not be armed as a rule. But, Guard Post of both side has armed already, so that DMZ is not anymore Demilitarized Zone. It has become TMZ(The Militarized Zone). Korean War is never finished war but it's present progressive form at the moment.

Above and below is the weapons which was used by North Korean Army during the Korean War.

If I Leave

(from the drama OST  'Empress Myung Sung')

Underneath the cold moonlight

If I can see my shadow lying there               내 그림자 하나 생기거든

shall I just tell you how I feel inside

all that is in my heart

If the wind may blow on my heart,

telling me again that I"m alone                  그 바람 하나가 지나거든

should I just give out a sigh          그저 한숨쉬듯

and ask myself                        물어볼까요

why do I have to live myself

though I may be sad I"ve got to live            나 슬퍼도 살아야 하네

because I feel so sad I must go on              나 슬퍼서 살아야 하네

I know that I will understand

when I"m gone                     알텐데

why I just had to live my life here              내가 이 세상을 다녀간

in this world                         그 이유를

you were the on-ly on-e for me              나 가고 기억하는 이

though sorrow of my heart you loved me so    나 슬픔까지도 사랑했다

please tell me so                      말해주길

like the evening light so falls

If all my memories just fade away

will I hold on to joy that"s in my heart          그땐 웃어질까요 이 마음

oh, days of long ago                        그리운 옛일로

wonder if the star in the sky

he know how I feel, my loneliness

maybe that is why he is there with me                차마 날 두고는 떠나지 못해

he just there all through the night

though I may be sad I"ve got to live              나 슬퍼도 살아야 하네

because I feel so sad I must go on                나 슬퍼서 살아야 하네

I know that I will understand

when I"m gone                       알텐데

why I just had to live my life here                내가 이 세상을 다녀간

       in this world                    그 이유를

you were the on-ly on-e for me              나 가고 기억하는 이

though sorrow of my heart             내 슬픔까지도

you loved me so oh,                     사랑하길 우

I hope some day                         부디 먼 훗날

you were the on-e to cry for me            나 가고 슬퍼하는 이

the sorrows in my heart               나 슬픔속에도

I"d filled with joy                          행복했다 믿게

my love                                 내 사랑

This is the song that I explained in Kyung Bok Palace. Empress Myung Sung who was last enpress of Cho Sun Dynasty was killed at the Ok Ho Loo of Kyung Bok Palace and burnt out in that back side pine tree forest by Japanese gangster soldiers in October 8, 1895.   This is never forgettable sadness of Korean history and people also.

Four classic singers sang Korean folk melody titled 'Kyung Bok Palace Taryung' at last in the farewell dinner. When Kyung Bok Palace were rebuilt by Dae Won Kun who was the father of last emperor 'Ko Jong' in the year 1865, Korean especially Kyung Ki Province people was too much suffered from too heavy burden both in financially and physically. This folk song is including something indirect criticize for such heavy rebuilt operation at that time.
